Loveseat Slipcovers
Naturally loveseat slipcovers will be a different size than slipcovers for full sofas.
Seek out slipcovers specifically for loveseats
Don’t look for any old sofa slipcover. The fact is that there are specific loveseat slipcovers that will result in a much better fit.
What are the dimensions of a loveseat slipcover?
They are typically 50 inches or 65 inches, depending on the type of fit you get.
- A tight or form-fitting loveseat slipcover is 50 inches.
- A loose or relaxed fitting slipcover for loveseats is 65 inches.
Below I set out more details about the two types of fit.
Loveseat slipcover variables:
When you look for loveseat slipcovers, you need to keep the following variables in mind:
- Fit
- Color
- Material
- Cushion-style
- Number of Pieces
- Care
1. Fit
You can buy either a loose / relaxed fitting slipcover or form / tight fitting slipcover for your loveseat.
The relaxed fitting loveseat slipcovers give a more casual look to your furniture. They’re ideal for dressing down a room or for a more casual home such as beach cottage.
The following is an example of a relaxed fitting loveseat slipcover:
A tight fitting slipcover is one that smoothly and tightly forms to your loveseat. It appears as if it’s the natural upholstery of your loveseat. Check it out:
2. Color
Fortunately due to the popularity of slipcovers, there are many colors to choose from. It’s astonishing actually. The common colors include (in various shades):
- black
- blue
- brown
- green
- neutral
- purple
- red
- yellow
What about patterns? Yes, there are many loveseat slipcover patterns you can choose from as well. Popular patterns are:
- stripe
- floral
Texture
Related to color is the texture consideration. Some loveseat slipcovers are smooth with no color texture while others may have a texture to the design. It’s quite remarkable how sophisticated some of the textured slipcovers are – so much so that they really do result in a brand-new looking loveseat.
3. Slipcover Material
The material of your loveseat slipcover is also an important consideration because material contributes to the aesthetic and style. For example, a denim material results in a casual-looking loveseat, while suede can dress up a loveseat.
Common loveseat slipcover materials include:
- Suede
- Cotton
- Polyester
- Denim
- Hybrids (i.e. cotton and polyester)
When choosing a slipcover by material, keep both style and maintenance in mind. If at all possible, it’s much more convenient if your slipcover is machine washable.
4. Cushion Style
There are 2 loveseat slipcover cushion styles:
- Box Cushion
- T-Cushion
A box cushion loveseat is one where the seat cushion does NOT wrap around the loveseat’s arms.
A T-Cushion loveseat cushion is one that wraps around the arms.
It’s important you know which cushion style to look for.
5. Number of Pieces
What on earth does “number of pieces” mean with respect to loveseat slipcovers?
Actually, it’s pretty simple. Slipcovers for loveseats come in 1, 2 or 3 pieces.
- A 1 piece simply drapes on top of your loveseat. You place it on top and pull down over the entire loveseat.
- A 2 piece has a separate cover for the seat cushion. This gives a more natural look to your loveseat because the cushion is separately covered, which is how most furniture appears.
- A 3 piece has a third cover for the back cushions.
6. Care
I’m a low maintenance guy and tend to buy things that require as little maintenance as possible. Therefore, I prefer slipcovers I can wash at home. This is more cost-effective given that a single dry-cleaning bill can cost as much as the slipcover (or get pretty close).
